Since Wednesday night Isaac and I have been vacationing in South Carolina on Seabrook island. It’s right near Kiawah and is very similar, but in our opinion is less stuffy and more peaceful.
This island is filled with gorgeous trees, unbelievable mansions, and wildlife. We have seen countless deer, alligators, birds, crabs, and turtles. My favorite part about the island is that we ride bikes everywhere. We haven’t been in a car in 2 days! We ride our bikes to the pool, beach, and dinner.
One of my secret fantasies (along with being in the broadway musical Mamma Mia) is to live in a Swiss Family Robinson style house. This island makes me feel a little closer to that fantasy.
One of my least favorite parts about typical beach towns is the way all of the houses look the same. You drive 10 miles down a long 15mph road and are forced to read the terribly cheesy house names. Why do people name their beach houses? Who decided that was going to be a thing? Okay, maybe I’m just criticizing because I don’t have a beach house. On Seabrook Island, the houses are all unique and stylish. You are thankful for the slow speed limit so you can take in the amazing surroundings and beautiful architecture.
This place is like out of a storybook. The island is covered in so much beautiful greenery and then all of the sudden BAM…beach! It feels like you are on two separate vacations: jungle themed and beach themed.
The photos above are the surroundings by our condo. A 5 minute bike ride takes us here:
I can honestly say this is one of the coolest vacations I’ve ever been on. I can’t wait to come back to this magical, lush island.

Beautiful photos. You captured the essence of the day well. It made me want to go biking!
Thank you, Colleen! It was such an enchanting place.
Beautiful Courtney! But please let Isaac name your children (given your choice of Beach house names). 🙂
Sure thing, dad. Although to be fair, I guess I get my taste in names from you and mom. Does the name Ardie ring a bell??
And yikes, sorry you had to read the V word on here LOL! 😉
